Hey freaks,
here's a nice little site with stories about the GD
meeting with Joseph Campbell, a Jerry page, interviews with
Krassner and Kesey, more.

http://www.sirbacon.org/4membersonly/backstagepass.htm

Be sure to check out the legendary tale about Dock
Ellis, who in 1970, playing for the Pirates, pitched a
no-hitter while tripping. I'm not making this up!!

Happy 2012 everybody,
Dr. Flashback :-)

Happy New Year Flash. Thanks for posting that.

Have you ever seen this hilarious You Tube about Doc's no-no?

That was a great little animation of one of the most entertaining baseball stories ever. I also recall him saying in another interview that it was much easier to get the ball over the plate, because the strike zone looked enormous. That's just awesome.

Also I found his mention of 90% of players using stimulants pretty interesting. I knew PEDs were more prevalent then, but didn't know the extent. Of course you have to take any of these numbers with a grain of salt. These days, Canseco has claimed the number is still around 80%. David Wells has said 25% to 40%. Who knows what the actual numbers are.

I think there's still a good percentage of players using. PEDs are constantly being redeveloped to not show up in drug tests, and other than idiots like Braun, I think most of today's users are just better at cheating the system now.

Wow. 2 million+ hits. I always found it hilarious when Doc's no-no would come up in a game, whether on TV or radio, and there would almost always be that pregnant pause. Jim Kaat is the only announcer I've heard who would plunge into the psychedelic waters with glee. Seeing that Jim played forever and for several teams maybe he was on the same team as Doc at one point......

btw- Well done vid.
